Arvid Petersen came into this world in the late 70's spending his formative years in a small automobile painting town just outside of Detroit, Michigan. Though he began working for his family's small yet successful general contracting business, Arvid knew that his true path would lead elsewhere. After graduating from Western Michigan University with a Bachelors of Arts degree, he gave it one last year at the family business to save enough money to follow his dreams, a metalsmithing shop in the Colorado Mountains.
At the eleventh hour, forced with the prospect of being so far from the friends and family he cherished, his ambitions changed. The night before he was to head west, Arvid rerouted his direction to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where his brother was attending college, just to think things over. The state of beer & cheese had won him over and in less than a week he set up a lease on a studio and turned to his other artistic passion, painting.
After some time and meeting some great creative forces, Arvid moved to a larger storefront studio, sharing space with James Weyenberg of Crookedjaw Design. Arvid enjoyed success as a full time artist until his family asked him to return to the growing company.
Arvid now lives just outside of Ann Arbor, Michigan, working for his family's business. He is still painting as much as possible in a studio set up in his home. Finding inspiration everyday and is still showing in galleries and shows all over this great land. He is proud of the success his art has achieved, the great friends he has met along the way, and knowing that his amazing journey has not yet ended.
